return to main photo album catalog The first section of slab is poured; 3-story section frame completed Photos from January 31, 2006
The steel frame for middle part of the building, the 3-story tower, is complete - filling out with floor and roof supports.
The southwest corner - the first part of the slab has been poured.
East-looking view of the three story section where floors and roof supports are completed.
On the southwest corner, putting in the roof supports.
The southeast corner - Jamie's office is right there on the 3rd floor. The bent beam with the comb teeth-like posts is where the roof of the 1-story east wing will join up. The UTIG seminar and TACC computer rooms are in this wing, and the roof is a bit higher than the first floor of the tower section. The backhoe is digging in the pit where the TACC computer room will be built. With the pit, the raised floor will actually be level with the rest of the first floor.
West-looking view into the TACC computer room floor pit.
Half the east parking lot is essentially completed - much needed extra parking space for BEG employees, who lost their main parking lot when construction began. This section will open up in a a week or two.
Looking westward toward the connector, showing the developing courtyard between the BEG and the new building. This is the path that employees will take from the east parking lot into the main entrance. The trees are holding up well to the construction.
Look - I'm "inside" the new building for the first time!!! Diagonal beams are the east-side wind braces, which wrap around what will be a stairwell. Next photo album
