Interior Finishing

Interior finishing; more exterior details

Photos from September 5, 2006

I've been away for quite a while - traveling to the east coast, Seattle and Japan.  This is my first chance to take photos of the building in a while, and boy: what changes!  The building is within a few weeks of "substantial completion".  After that will be a lot of testing of systems and furniture installation prior to our big move.

The exterior of the building is essentially complete.  Outside work continues on the grounds, however.  To the left in this picture is the newly-completed west parking lot.

Here's a closer view of the west parking lot.

Irrigation piping is just going in.  A sidewalk is complete to the left, and in the background is the wall for the dumpsters.  The loading dock, with steel hand rails, is at far left.

Over in the east courtyard, holes are being dug for the foundations for the pedestrian canopy.  The door at  left is the entrance for the seminar room.

Inside the building work is progressing at a very fast pace on interior finishings. Here the seminar room is starting to look very nice.

The TACC computer room already has its big power supply machines installed.

This is the coffee bar in the hallway outside of the seminar room.

Carpenters here work on the triangular reception desk in the entryway.  Spiffy.

Meanwhile, tilers are putting in the travertine flooring.

These are the elevator doors on the 2nd floor, rimmed with travertine trim.

Most of the carpets and vinyl tile are already installed everywhere in the building, but covered for protection by cardboard.  This is a 1st floor hallway.

These signs warn everyone to be careful!

This is Cliff's work area on the 2nd floor: lot's of space!

The side nook in each of the work areas is a great place for book shelves.  This is in the aerogeophysical work area on the 2nd floor.

The work areas also feature alcoves with built-in computer work counters.  This is on the 3rd floor.

This is the coffee bar in the director's suite.

My office on the 3rd floor - getting ready to put in the floor molding.

Also in my office - looking back toward the door - note frosted glass panels in door and clear clerestory windows above.

Bathroom fixtures are coming along - here the sinks and counters...

...and here the stalls, protected for the time being with cardboard.  Oops!  I appear to be in the ladies' room.

Meanwhile, the electricians are still at it - can you imagine untangling that mess?
