First inspection of second floor rooms

Photos from May 16, 2006

Brickwork is nearly finished on the west-facing walls.  The east side of the tower is also getting bricked up quickly.

Today we began inspecting rooms on the second floor.  Larry (right) and Brad (left) you know already.  In the middle that's Colby, a new intern at Flintco.  Brad makes him take the notes this time.

If the building can take Larry's pounding on the walls, it'll take anything.

This is Don Blankenship's corner office.  Note that the UTIG offices have wood blocking to accommodate wall-mounted shelving or white boards.

Martha Ellis (OFPC) joined our inspection today.  She's checking out Jack Holt's office.  UTIG windowed offices have transom windows over the doors to help project more light into the interior.

Bad lighting for this photo - but it shows what a work area looks like.  This is the "aerogeophysical" work area (Don, Jack, Ginny et al.).

Again - a bit dark here, but this is the "climate" work area (Fred, Charles, Rob & Brian), the only work are not on a corner and so a bit unique.  Here an electrician is busy setting up conduits and pulling wire through them.

The lack of windows yet in Don's office gives a good view of a brick layer working on the east wall.

Circuit breakers in the electronics room on the second floor.

Up on the third floor, my own work area takes shape.  A couple of workers at left are setting up the door frame to Craig's office.

Here's my office so far - I've got windows now, and a frame, plus a big pile of dry wall ready for installation - looks like a big coffin.

I liked this shot looking west from my office, with all the framing and black plastic-wrapped piles of dry wall.  Maybe I like jails too.

The second floor of the connector is UTIG's "lobby" area.  One of the few architectural "features" of the new building is this triangular opening to the first floor, directly above the entry doorway.  This is what visitors will see as they exit the elevator and turn right toward UTIG space.
