Research Office Complex
UT's 1st LEED Certified Building
The Institute for Geophysics is located in the Research Office Complex (ROC), Building 196 at Pickle Research Center. UTIG shares the building with the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). The ROC has been LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified as a 'green' building by the non-profit U.S. Green
Building Council. The ROC achieved LEED certification by earning points for design and construct
ion practices. These practices include low-emission materials, energy efficiency, recycling of waste,
and the four electric recharge stations at the south end of the parking lot. The ROC is the first to be LEED certified at UT.
John Goff created a
photo chronicle detailing the building of the ROC. The photos (provided by Flintco) below are from the LEED certification ceremony on October 30, 2007.
