GROWTH SPURT!
With our new lease, UTIG has expanded our space to include the first floor of Building 800 in the Spicewood Office Park complex. This space was previously occupied by the UTIG Support Office for Aerogeophsical Research (SOAR) while SOAR was in operation. The new space was remodeled to include a 60-seat capacity seminar room, which will shortly be equipped with a new ceiling-mounted projector and a wall-mounted screen. Also, we have a new conference room that will include 12 leather chairs around a 10' cherrywood table, plus 4 new walnut bookcases that will house both our ODP proceedings and student theses. The "climate and seismology" group has moved their offices into building 800: research scientists Cliff Frohlich, Ian Dalziel, Fred Taylor, Charles Jackson and Rob Scott, plus post-docs Christina Holland and Faming Wang. Technical staff members Mark Wiederspahn, Anatoly Mironov and Gwen Watson have joined them. Work is also beginning on renovations to building 500 to house our library downstairs and new student offices and computer workstation space upstairs. The old library area in building 600 will be converted into a new lab for the aerogeophysical group. Come check it out! Come to our next seminar! |
