Experiment 1
TICOSECT Experiment 1 Description
The purpose of Experiment 1 is two-fold and relies
on dense instrumentation and shot spacing. The first goal is to determine a detailed
crustal scale seismic velocity model that may constrain the composition of the forearc
wedge offshore Nicoya Peninsula. The second goal is to use the reflected arrivals from the
ocean bottom and land instruments to construct a seismic image of the Cocos-Caribbean
plate boundary - useful for analysis of the prism geometry - and to examine its morphology
to seismogenic depths.
