Web Services |
We are currently developing web services to publish our metadata as OAI-compliant XML and as OGC-compliant web map and feature services. We are also creating Google Earth kmz files.
MSDC Track-line Seismic-Section-Linked Google Map KMZ Files (as of 01oct2007):
Best performance and most up-to-date kmz files are available for static downloads.
Stacks and other lines with image links are in an 11 MB file.
Ocean Bottom Seismometer lines with image links are in a 2 MB file.
Field shot data without image links are in an 2 MB file.
MSDC Cruise-Level Google Map KMZ Files (as of 10oct2007):
Best performance and most up-to-date kmz files are available for static downloads.
Folder contains entire data center navigation organized by cruises with links to general metadata for each cruise (11 MB).
MSDC Cruise Track Web Map Service:
Still trying to get a consistent efficient version running. Testing is at http://www.ig.utexas.edu:8080/geoserver/wms?request=GetCapabilities (select UTIGSDC_type). Copy the link into a compliant OGC interface such as UDIG. Performance is relatively slow (12Oct07).
USGS Track-line NAMSS Google Map Service:
The USGS National Archive of Marine Seismic Surveys kmz link to holdings organized by survey may be found at (http://walrus.wr.usgs.gov/NAMSS/).
LDEO Worldwide Bathymetry Web Map Service:
The MGDS supports web services for bathymetry.
Software Resources:
Google Earth may be downloaded from http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html.
The "User-friendly" Desktop Internet GIS (uDig) is a GeoSpatial application and a platform. More information can be found at http://udig.refractions.net/.
